Keeping the Spring in your Kitchen
Without a doubt, Spring is the prettiest season.
The reappearance of clear blue skies, the feeling of the sun’s warmth, and the fresh green buds and leaves on trees and shrubs. Daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells - Spring is so colourful and so pretty. And, it is no wonder that Spring provides home-styling inspiration. As well as the urge to refresh. If you’re planning a new kitchen, and are inspired by Spring-feelings, there are plenty of style ideas you can include to keep your kitchen Spring-fresh.
Daylighting.
We love Spring for the clocks change and the evenings lighten. Using light-boxes, bi-folding doors, large windows - grabbing that extra daylight and filtering it into your kitchen space makes the room seem larger, clearer, and of course it is brighter. When planning your kitchen design, you could make larger glass features a focal point, or use light-enhancers to spotlight. Any light passing through the kitchen will bring more Spring inside.
Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Many of our kitchen designs have featured mirrored splashbacks. They are wonderful for enhancing light and spaciousness by reflection, especially when positioned opposite a window or large glazed doors. Naturally, they are very light too and can make rooms seem more roomy.
Fresh Palettes.
Pastel pinks, yellows, blues and greens are gorgeous Spring-like colours. Crisp whites are clean and fresh and also represent the sense of renewal Spring brings. These are all lovely kitchen colours. Blues and whites have been popular choices in the past, and greens have become a trend too. This year, we expect to see a pink or pale purple emergence too. Add a beautiful white stone worktop and you have a pretty Spring-palette.
Material Mixes.
These pretty painted finishes are beautifully complemented by natural oak, which is found inside all our cupboards and drawers. Light oak finishes are so organic and attractive. And, natural. Try mixing up worktops and kickboards with stone and oak to vary a kitchen’s texture.
Also, handles have such an impact. Bright coppery tones are warm and summery, while polished chrome is cool and reflecting. The choice can make a huge difference to a kitchen’s style, which is why we offer fully rendered designs to help you visualise those moods.
In with the old.
A new kitchen does not have to be the only one to benefit a Spring re-style. There are lots of ways an existing kitchen can be stepped into Spring too. The beauty of a painted kitchen is that it can be repainted. Whether you choose a colour refresh or retouch, or a full repaint - maybe a different shade or not - you will give your kitchen cabinetry a new lease of life. Changing the handles is another way to freshen your kitchen’s look. They can so easily be replaced with something very different and the whole kitchen’s face will be lifted.
Then there are the basics. Not many of us relish the thought of a deep clean but a Spring-cleaned kitchen feels and smells and breathes so nicely. From fridges to pan-drawers, ovens, hobs, extractors and cutlery dividers, a thorough sort, buff and polish makes the kitchen sparkle.
And, as for the larder - we take inspiration from our clients - well-sorted, well-organised, well-labelled and ready to be used. That feeling when our cupboards are this meticulous, and our glasses glitter in the sunshine.
Say it with the flora.
Above all, nothing says Spring like fresh (or not) flowers and foliage. They add Spring-colour and Spring-scents. They are mood-lifters and smile-makers.
